Atelis Workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Competitive Intelligence and APA Automatic Patent Analysis

This is from the 3rd to the 5th November 2010 that the Atelis workshop on Competitive Intelligence and APA Automatic Patent Analysis has been done in Malaysia. This workshop was animated by the Professor Henri Dou, Director of ATELIS. During this workshop Competitive Intelligence and Competitive Technical Intelligence have been presented with their methods and tools. The core of Competitive Intelligence and Competitive Technical Intelligence is information and among the various information sources the PATENTS.

The Automatic Patent Analysis, is performed by using the Matheo - Patent software. This software resident on your computer allows to query the databases from the EPO (World Patent Database) and USPO (United States Patent Office) and to develop local databases which are coded in such a way that bibliometrics correlations can be performed in seconds. During this patent workshop various examples were presented to show how the patent analysis allows to map the Porter’s 5 forces as well do determine during a SWOT analysis the Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats, and Opportunities. The use of APA to increase the competitiveness an innovation in SMEs was also presented with various examples going from the development of machinery to the creation of added value products from natural resources.

ATELIS certificate At the end of the  workshop the attendes received the ATELIS certificate which concluded this 3 days strategic workshop. It was the first ATELIS’s workshop in Asia. It will be followed very soon? other workshops in Indonesia and in Germany, as well as in France. ATELIS is the Strategic Competitive Intelligence Workshop of the ESCEM Business School (AACSB and EQUIS) located in Tours and Poitiers in France. ATELIS is also certified NF EN ISO 9001:2000 untill 2012.
